Supreme Court Rejects Aravalli Panel’s Six-Month Extension Plea

Supreme Court Rejects Aravalli Panel’s Six-Month Extension Plea

The Supreme Court is reviewing how the Aravalli Hills should be defined and protected.

A committee asked for six more months to finish its work.

The committee said it needed time to study maps, ecology, geology, water systems, communities, and other evidence.

The court rejected that request and ordered the committee to submit its final report by November 30.

It also asked for smaller reports on urgent issues before then.

The court said the committee must listen to all affected groups, including tribal communities.

The Chief Justice warned that the committee could be replaced if it did not meet the deadline.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized the court’s decision.

The court will consider the matter again on December 2.
