Students Demand CBI Probe Over JPSC Exam Leaks
In Ranchi, a city in India, many students are upset because they think the exams that decide who gets government jobs were not fair.
They say the answer sheets were leaked and that the police investigation isn’t enough.
So they have been sitting in a stadium for many days, shouting for a big national agency called the CBI to look into it.
The state government, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, said the police will investigate, but the students want a stronger probe and even want the exam cancelled.
They also want a new option on the answer sheets for people who didn’t try.
The students marched with torches and said they will go to the state assembly if their demands aren’t met.
Students in Ranchi have been holding an indefinite sit‑in at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium since July 29, demanding a CBI probe into alleged JPSC and JSSC exam irregularities.
Protesters claim that OMR sheets of the 14th JPSC Combined Preliminary Test were leaked and that previous CID investigations have failed to act.
The state government, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, has ordered a CID probe but students say it is insufficient and call for the CM’s resignation.
Protesters also demand cancellation of the 14th JPSC exam, introduction of a “not attempted” option on OMR sheets, and independent investigations by the CBI and Enforcement Directorate.
Thousands of students marched in a torchlight procession to Albert Ekka Chowk, threatening to gherao the Jharkhand Assembly if their demands are not met.
