Jadavpur University to Install 70 CCTV Cameras in 45 Days
Jadavpur University has promised to install 70 CCTV cameras on its campus within 45 days.
The state government is paying for this, and the university has also hired more security guards.
This is because a court was unhappy that the university was taking too long to make the campus safer.
The university is also against the idea of having a police station on campus, and the court will hear more about this later.
The cameras and guards are being added after some students were not happy with how things were being run at the university.
Jadavpur University to install 70 CCTV cameras within 45 days of the work order issued on November 27.
The state government has allocated ₹68 lakh for the installation of the CCTV cameras.
30 additional security personnel and 2 supervisors have been deployed on the campus since December 2.
The university opposes the proposal to set up a police outpost on the campus.
The next hearing on the matter is scheduled for January 21.
