'DC' Review: Violent Devdas Reimagining Starring Lokesh Kanagaraj Divides Critics

There is a brand-new movie called DC that tells a very different version of a very old story called Devdas.

In the old story, Devdas was so sad about love that he ruined his own life, but in this movie he is a gangster who does bad and scary things yet has a good heart deep down.

He and his friends are running away from a police officer because Devdas hurt a policeman and took some of the police's weapons.

While hiding in a town called Coimbatore, he meets a singer named Parvathy, and they spend a happy day together when she sings his mother's favourite song.

But the police officer finds them and shoots them, so Devdas runs away again to a town called Erode.

There he meets a woman named Chandra who has been trapped in a terrible room for 18 years, and he helps her escape.

Chandra joins Devdas, and together they run away hoping for a happy life.

Some reviewers loved the movie, especially the music by Anirudh, the direction, and how well Lokesh Kanagaraj acted for the very first time.

Other reviewers thought the story was too thin and the movie too long and too violent.

The movie is made in the Tamil language and is also dubbed into Telugu and Hindi, but it is definitely for grown-ups, not children.
