CJP Spokesperson Defends Ruchika Singh Amid FIR Over Protest Remarks
A young woman named Ruchika Singh was part of a protest in Delhi.
Some people said she used bad words about the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
Because of that, the police made a formal complaint, called an FIR.
A spokesperson for a political party, Saurav Das, said the police should not bother a young person and should focus on older politicians instead.
The police are now looking into the case in Delhi.
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das criticized the FIR against 25‑year‑old Ruchika Singh for abusive remarks about PM Modi during a NEET‑UG protest.
Noida Police registered a First Information Report under sections 352, 353(1) and 356(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita after a complaint by Supreme Court advocate Smriti Singh.
The complaint alleges Singh used profanity and intended to disturb public peace at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
The case was transferred to Delhi Police for investigation.
Das argued that criminal machinery should target senior politicians, not a young protester, and called for stopping harassment of youth.
