CBI Books Ex-DGP, Former Minister Wife for Murder Over Son's Death
A special agency called the CBI is now investigating the death of Aqil Akhtar, whose parents are a former top police official and a former politician.
Aqil was found dead at his home on October 16.
Before his death, he posted a video saying his family was plotting against him.
A neighbor then complained to the police about foul play.
The state government asked the CBI to take over the case.
The CBI has now officially filed charges of murder and conspiracy against Aqil's father, mother, wife, and sister.
The father, Mohammad Mustafa, has stated his son was a drug addict with mental health issues.
Another video surfaced where Aqil seemed to retract some of his earlier claims due to his mental health.
The CBI has registered an FIR against former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa, his wife Razia Sultana, their son's wife, and daughter in connection with the death of their son, Aqil Akhtar.
Aqil Akhtar died under suspicious circumstances on October 16 at his residence in Panchkula, Haryana. Initial medical reports suggested a suspected overdose of medicines.
The FIR cites allegations of murder and criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The investigation was prompted by a social media video by the deceased alleging illicit relations between his father and wife, and a family conspiracy against him.
The Haryana government recommended a central investigation, leading the CBI to take over the case previously handled by local police, with the family claiming the son suffered from drug addiction and mental illness.
