Pradhan Urges Odisha CM to Reconstitute Backward Classes Commission
The Education Minister of India, Dharmendra Pradhan, wrote a letter to the Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi.
He asked the Chief Minister to set up the Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes (OSCBC) again.
This commission helps 216 communities that are socially and educationally backward.
The commission stopped working on January 3, 2024, and these communities are facing problems because they don't have a group to represent them.
The commission's job is to listen to these communities, help them with their problems, and give advice to the government.
The minister wants the Chief Minister to quickly set up the commission again to help these communities.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urged Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi to reconstitute the Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes (OSCBC).
The OSCBC's tenure ended on January 3, 2024, leaving 216 backward class communities without representation.
The commission is responsible for examining inclusion requests, addressing grievances, advising on policies, and conducting surveys.
Pradhan highlighted the importance of the commission in upholding social justice and fulfilling the aspirations of backward communities.
The Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes (Amendment) Act, 2020, expanded the commission's responsibilities to include conducting surveys on backward class communities.
