Canada Opens New US Bridge Amid Trade Tensions
Canada has finished building a new big bridge called the Gordie Howe International Bridge that connects Canada to the US.
This bridge is very important because it will help trucks and people move between the two countries more easily.
The bridge is named after a famous Canadian hockey player.
Canada paid for the bridge and will share some money from the tolls with the US later.
However, the US and Michigan did not attend the opening because of new taxes the US put on Canadian goods.
Canada hopes for better trade relations in the future.
Canada celebrated the completion of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, a $6.4 billion project connecting Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan.
The bridge will facilitate trade and travel between Canada and the US, with traffic opening on Monday.
US and Michigan representatives were absent due to new 50% tariffs on Canadian goods announced by President Donald Trump.
The bridge is named after Gordie Howe, a famous Canadian hockey player who played for the Detroit Red Wings.
Pedestrians and bicyclists will be able to cross the bridge for free in a few weeks.
