India’s Housing Construction Pipeline Nearly Doubles To USD 430 Billion
A new report says India is building many more homes than it did in the past.
The value of homes being built reached USD 430 billion in 2025.
That was much higher than the USD 235 billion recorded in 2019.
The report says stronger demand after the Covid-19 pandemic helped increase construction.
Homes now make up most of the value of all real estate projects under construction.
Other projects include offices, shops, and warehouses.
Home sales also stayed strong for several quarters.
Real estate groups believe India’s property market could become much larger in the coming years.
Housing projects under construction in India were valued at USD 430 billion in 2025, up from USD 235 billion in 2019.
The value of all real estate under construction reached USD 503 billion in 2025, compared with USD 94 billion in 2009.
Residential property’s share of construction value rose from 48% in 2009 to 85% in 2025.
Residential sales remained above Rs 1.3 lakh crore for seven consecutive quarters, while Global Capability Centres drove about 45% of office leasing in the first half of 2026.
CREDAI said India’s real estate market has grown from USD 120 billion in 2017 to an estimated USD 600 billion today and could reach USD 1 trillion by 2030.
