Saharanpur mosque demolition row intensifies after ancient well discovery

Saharanpur mosque demolition row intensifies after ancient well discovery

A well was found under the remains of a mosque in Saharanpur.

Experts from the Archaeological Survey of India visited the site to study it.

They said its bricks and building materials may be 200 to 250 years old.

The experts have not yet determined exactly when or why it was built.

Some people are speculating that it could be connected to an older religious site.

The ASI said there is not enough evidence to make that conclusion yet.

Government ministers said the mosque was demolished through a legal process.

The discovery has led to a new political argument while the matter is also before the court.
