India Supports US G20 Growth Focus, Seeks Action On Imbalances

India attended a meeting of the G20 finance ministers in Asheville.

The United States is leading this year’s G20 work.

It wants countries to focus on economic growth, problems caused by differences between economies, and financial literacy.

India said it agrees with these priorities.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also met US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

She said their discussion was positive and constructive.

She held separate meetings with officials from several other countries.

India reported strong recent growth, including a 7.8% overall increase in the first quarter of its 2026-27 financial year.
