Indian Companies Seek Removal from RoC Amid Economic Shifts
Some companies in India are choosing to close down and be removed from the official company list.
Over 8,600 companies did this in the first few months of the current financial year, which is a significant number.
This may be happening because of things like slow spending and problems around the world.
At the same time, more new companies are starting up.
The government also removes companies that aren't doing any business, but they aren't doing that right now.
It's like some businesses are closing while others are starting.
Over 8,600 companies sought voluntary removal from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) in first 3.5 months of FY26.
This figure is 54% of the total companies that sought removal in all of FY25.
New company registrations grew by over 18% in July.
Companies are removed under section 248(2) of the Companies Act, 2013.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is not currently conducting a special strike-off drive.
