AIIMS Guwahati becomes Northeast’s first ATLS-accredited trauma centre
AIIMS Guwahati is now the first hospital in the Northeast part of India to be officially recognized for providing advanced trauma care.
This means they can teach doctors and nurses how to help people who are badly hurt in accidents.
The hospital held a special training course from December 12 to 14, where experts from all over India came to teach.
The training helps doctors learn how to quickly and effectively help injured people during the first hour after an accident, which is very important for saving lives.
AIIMS Guwahati plans to keep offering these training sessions to make sure more people in the Northeast can get better emergency care when they need it.
AIIMS Guwahati is the first institution in Northeast India to be accredited as an ATLS provider.
The institute conducted its inaugural ATLS provider course from December 12 to 14.
The accreditation focuses on standardizing trauma management principles, especially during the 'golden hour'.
Each ATLS course at AIIMS-Guwahati enrolls 16 delegates and includes two days of intensive training followed by a formal assessment.
The initiative aims to improve emergency response, patient outcomes, and reduce trauma-related mortality in the region.
