US Panel Warns of Rising Online Child Abuse Threat
A group of experts and lawmakers in the US talked about how online child abuse is getting worse.
They said that social media, secret messaging apps, and new technology are making it easier for bad people to hurt children.
A lot of reports about these crimes are coming in, but there aren't enough people to investigate them all.
The experts also said that companies need to do more to keep kids safe online.

Nearly 500,000 Americans contacted the National Sexual Assault Hotline in 2023, with 68% of calls related to child sexual abuse.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received over 32 million reports of suspected child sexual abuse materials in 2023.
Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task forces are overwhelmed, with only 500 out of 71,000 investigative leads being actively investigated.
Task force members experience a high turnover rate of 25% annually due to the challenging nature of the work.
