CBI Court Allows Temporary Release of Seized Jewellery for Wedding
A police officer and her husband are accused of having more money and valuable things than they should, based on their salaries.
The CBI, which investigates big crimes, took some of her jewellery as evidence.
She asked for the jewellery back for her nephew's wedding, and the court said yes, but only for 15 days and with strict rules.
The jewellery must be returned after the wedding, and she can't sell or change it.
The court also said the jewellery might still be part of the crime, and the investigation is ongoing.
A CBI court allowed the temporary release of seized jewellery worth over Rs 30 lakh for 15 days for a wedding.
The jewellery was seized as part of a disproportionate assets case against a Chandigarh Police Inspector and her husband.
The court set strict conditions for the release, including a bond of Rs 80 lakh and mandatory re-deposit by February 16, 2026.
The CBI opposed the release, arguing that the jewellery is material evidence and could prejudice the ongoing investigation.
The court noted that the source and ownership of the jewellery are still under investigation and will be decided during the trial.
