Editor Andy Jurgensen Discusses His Fluid Editing Process on ‘One Battle After Another’

Imagine you're putting together a puzzle with pieces from different sets, like a funny puzzle, a serious puzzle, and an action puzzle.

That's what Andy Jurgensen did for the movie 'One Battle After Another'.

He worked with the director, Paul Thomas Anderson, to make sure all the different parts fit together nicely.

Andy had to be really flexible, like a chameleon, changing how he put scenes together to match the director's ideas.

He read the script and then figured out the best way to show both the funny and serious parts.

For a big car chase scene, they didn't have a strict plan but instead used what they filmed from different angles and added exciting sounds.

They even found a cool location with hills that inspired how the chase was shot.

The goal was to make the movie feel exciting but also give the audience moments to relax.

Andy believes that by being open to changes, they created something special without relying too much on computer effects.
