Haryana Extends Gratuity to Unified Pension Scheme Employees
The Haryana government has decided to give extra money to its employees when they retire or if they pass away.
This money is called gratuity.
Before, only employees under the Old Pension Scheme got this benefit.
Now, employees who joined on or after January 1, 2006, and are under the Unified Pension Scheme will also get it.
This makes them happier because they will have more money when they retire.
The government hopes this will make employees trust the new pension system more.
Other states might also do this in the future.
Haryana extends retirement and death gratuity benefits to employees under the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).
Employees recruited on or after January 1, 2006, and shifted from the National Pension System (NPS) to UPS are eligible.
The decision addresses long-standing grievances of NPS employees who demanded restoration of gratuity benefits.
Employee unions welcome the move, seeing it as a step towards more predictable retirement protection.
The extension of gratuity benefits is expected to influence other states considering the adoption of the UPS.
