MA graduate leads family grocery business into thriving spice brand

Avilasha Salaria studied hard and earned a master's degree.

In 2019, she married into a family that had a small grocery shop.

Instead of just watching, she helped turn that little shop into a bigger food company.

The company is called Salaria Foods.

It makes spices and pickles.

The spices are sold under the brand name Vimal.

The pickles are sold under the brand name Swad Le.

The company works from a factory in Battal Ballian, in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Avilasha's husband, Rohit, her brother-in-law, Ramneek, and the rest of her family all helped and encouraged her.

She says she never felt it was only her husband's family business, because everyone wanted her to be a partner and help build the brand.
