TPF Education Yatra Finds Gaps, Shortages in Telangana Government Schools
The Telangana People’s Front visited government schools during an education bus trip.
It said schools had very different levels of basic facilities.
Some schools lacked enough classrooms, toilets, water or teachers.
The group said many primary schools had one teacher teaching several classes.
Parents told the group they were choosing private schools because they usually had more teachers and classrooms.
Students and teachers also described difficult school conditions.
The group plans to visit more schools and speak with more parents.
It may then send its findings and demands to the Chief Minister.
The Telangana People’s Front reported major differences in facilities, staffing and classroom conditions across government schools.
Former Telangana Education Commission chief Akunuri Murali said more than 80% of primary schools faced multi-grade teaching.
Parents told the TPF they were choosing private schools for better classroom availability, staffing and English exposure despite higher costs.
The group reported that two toilets served about 400 girls at schools in Vikarabad and cited other poor facilities.
The yatra began on September 15 and will inform a proposed letter to the Chief Minister, including demands for stronger public education and an 18% education-budget allocation.
