Delhi University Forum Presses Teachers’ Union on Campus Reforms
The Delhi University Academic Forum sent a letter to the teachers’ union, DUTA.
It asked the union to discuss several important problems at the university.
The forum says violence and harassment have made the campus less safe.
It wants DUTA to prepare reports and demand accountability from university leaders.
It also opposes what it describes as privatisation and too much online education.
The group wants classrooms to remain strong places for teaching.
It is asking for better buildings and facilities, fairer faculty recruitment rules, and temporary ad hoc appointments until permanent teachers are hired.
The forum does not contest DUTA elections but says it speaks up for higher education and may organise protests.
The Delhi University Academic Forum urged DUTA to discuss urgent institutional concerns at its General Body meeting.
DUAF called for action on campus safety, citing violence and harassment involving faculty, staff and students.
The forum asked DUTA to prepare a white paper on continuing campus violence and on NFS in Delhi University.
Its demands include rolling back privatisation and 40% online education while protecting classroom teaching.
DUAF also sought recruitment-rule reforms, improved infrastructure and ad hoc appointments for guest faculty until permanent hiring.
