India successfully launched a large satellite called EOS-05 into space.
The satellite was carried by a rocket named GSLV-F17.
It was placed into the orbit planned by scientists.
EOS-05 will take images and collect information about Earth.
It is expected to provide important strategic information once it is working.
The satellite weighs 2,367 kilograms.
ISRO said the satellite was healthy after reaching orbit.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the achievement.
ISRO also said that industry and academic partners helped make the mission successful.
