Exam Concessions in Maharashtra Now Based on UDID
The Maharashtra education board is changing how students with disabilities get help in exams.
Now, they only need a UDID card (like an ID for disabilities) instead of extra doctor's notes.
This is meant to make things easier.
However, parents of kids with autism are worried because the UDID card doesn't say exactly what help their children need, like extra time or a scribe.
The board says they will still help these students, and those without a UDID can still get support based on doctors' advice.
Maharashtra State Board will now accept only UDID certificates for exam concessions.
Parents of autistic students are concerned about the lack of specific support details in UDID.
Current concessions include writers, extra time, and subject exemptions.
The UDID certificate replaces separate medical certificates for accommodations.
Board President assures that existing support for autistic students will continue.
