Tata Motors CV Reports Loss Post-Demerger Amidst Strategic Shifts
Tata Motors' business that makes trucks and buses, called the commercial vehicle arm, recently announced it lost money in the last few months.
This happened after they separated it from the car-making part of the company.
They lost about 867 crore rupees.
A big reason for this loss was because some investments they made in another company, Tata Capital, lost value.
However, the company is still hopeful for the rest of the year.
They expect sales to go up because of the holiday season and new government rules.
They also have new truck models coming out soon.
The company's boss, Girish Wagh, said that even though they lost money this time, they saw good growth in how many vehicles they sold, thanks to better availability and sales strategies.
They are also working on buying another company called IVECO, which should be finished next year.
The company is also discussing new rules about how fuel-efficient vehicles need to be.
Tata Motors' commercial vehicle arm reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 867 crore in the July-September quarter, a shift from a profit of Rs 498 crore a year prior.
The net loss was primarily attributed to mark-to-market losses on the company's investments in Tata Capital.
Revenue from operations increased by 6% year-on-year to Rs 18,585 crore, but expenses rose by over 15%.
Despite the loss, Tata Motors anticipates growth in the second half of the fiscal year, driven by the festive season, GST reforms, and demand from infrastructure sectors.
The acquisition of IVECO is progressing as planned, with regulatory approvals underway and an expected completion by April next year.
