Group 1 Officers Seek TAS Creation
Some important officers in Telangana, called Group 1 Officers, wrote a letter to the Chief Minister.
They want to create a new group called the Telangana Administrative Service (TAS).
This new group would help make the state run better by using the experience of these officers.
They also want these officers to be in charge of important jobs in the government.
The Chief Minister said he likes the idea and will meet with them soon to talk more about it.
The officers also mentioned that a group of six other officers was supposed to study this idea a long time ago, but they haven't finished their report yet.
The Telangana Group 1 Officers’ Association submitted a memo to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy advocating for the creation of the Telangana Administrative Service (TAS).
The association proposed appointing experienced Group 1 officers as Additional Collectors in local bodies and in key leadership roles in state corporations.
They highlighted a decade-long delay in the project, noting that a committee of six IAS officers formed in 2015 has not yet submitted its final report.
The association requested that all Group 1 positions be officially brought under the purview of the State Civil Service.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy responded positively, promising to convene a meeting with Group 1 officers to discuss the implementation of these administrative reforms.
