Centre Asks UP to Study Rubber Dam's Impact on Taj Mahal
Imagine a big, inflatable tube being built in the Yamuna River near the Taj Mahal.
The government wants to build this rubber dam to control the water.
But, before they build it, they need to make sure it won't hurt the Taj Mahal, which has been standing for a very long time.
The government is asking experts to check if the dam could cause any problems for the Taj's foundation.
They also need to figure out how to keep the river water clean.
The good news is, experts already said the Taj is doing okay, and they regularly check it.
The Centre has advised Uttar Pradesh to assess the impact of a proposed Yamuna rubber dam.
The dam is planned 1.5 km downstream from the Taj Mahal in Agra.
The state government was asked to assess the dam's potential impact on the Taj's foundation.
The government also needs to address water quality concerns in the river.
ASI reported in 2022 there was no threat to the Taj Mahal's foundation.
