Centre Clears Nar-Par-Girna Project To Expand Irrigation Across Nashik, Jalgaon

The Nar-Par-Girna project is a plan to move water from wetter parts of Nashik toward areas that often face shortages.

It would send water into the Girna basin.

The project is expected to help farms in Nashik and Jalgaon districts.

About 10.64 TMC of water would be used.

The plan includes nine dams, tunnels, and pipes or channels to carry the water.

The Maharashtra government has approved the project administratively.

The Centre has now provided an important clearance or push for the project.

More environmental, forest, and other statutory permissions, along with construction, are still needed before the project is fully completed.
