Meghalaya Government Offers KSU Talks Amid Leaders’ Detention

The Meghalaya government has asked the Khasi Students’ Union, or KSU, to attend a meeting.

The meeting is planned for August 26 in Shillong.

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is expected to lead it.

The government wants to discuss five demands made by the student group.

Four KSU leaders were detained after violence during a rally on August 19, 2026.

Three leaders were moved back to Shillong District Jail on August 25.

Another leader is also being held there.

Former KSU leaders said the detainees were healthy and receiving medical care.

The KSU plans to explain its demands at the meeting.
