Justice Surya Kant Appointed 53rd Chief Justice of India
Justice Surya Kant is going to be the new top judge of India, the 53rd Chief Justice.
He will start his new job on November 24th.
The current Chief Justice, Bhushan R Gavai, is retiring the day before.
Justice Surya Kant will be the Chief Justice until February 2027.
He has been a judge on the Supreme Court since 2019 and has made important decisions on many big cases.
He has also worked to make sure women have more opportunities in lawyer groups.
He was born in Haryana and brings a lot of experience to this important role.
Justice Surya Kant has been appointed as the 53rd Chief Justice of India.
He will assume charge on November 24.
Justice Surya Kant will succeed Chief Justice Bhushan R Gavai, who retires on November 23.
His tenure as Chief Justice will conclude on February 9, 2027.
