Majithia Skips Punjab SIT Summons in Drug Case

Majithia Skips Punjab SIT Summons in Drug Case

A Punjab Police team is investigating a drug case.

It asked politician Bikram Singh Majithia to come in on October 5, but he did not appear.

His lawyer said the summons went against instructions from the Supreme Court.

The lawyer also said Majithia was called as a witness, not as a person accused of a crime.

The team also called Jagdish Bhola, who was arrested in 2013 in connection with an alleged drug racket.

Majithia was booked in the case in 2021.

He spent more than five months in jail before a court granted him bail in 2022.

The Shiromani Akali Dal said the state government was using the summons to distract people from its failures.
