Karnataka High Court Denies Maintenance to Wife Who Left Home

Karnataka High Court Denies Maintenance to Wife Who Left Home

A woman asked the court to order her husband to pay her monthly support.

A family court had already rejected her request.

She said her husband had harassed and treated her cruelly.

The Karnataka High Court said there was no strong proof of those claims.

The High Court also said a wife must have a reasonable reason for leaving the family home.

Leaving without such a reason can prevent her from receiving maintenance.

The court said a husband must have failed or refused to support her.

It upheld the rejection of her maintenance claim.
