India's Key Reservoirs Remain Over 90% Full for Fifth Consecutive Week
Imagine India has many giant water tanks called reservoirs that store water for farming and drinking.
For the past five weeks, these important water tanks have been more than 90% full!
This is great because the country got a lot of extra rain after the big monsoon season.
Some parts of India, especially the west, have their reservoirs almost completely full.
This means there's plenty of water for growing crops in the upcoming cooler season, which is good news for everyone.
India's 161 major reservoirs have stayed over 90% full for five weeks straight.
This is attributed to a 45% surplus in post-monsoon rainfall from October 1 to November 5.
The current water storage is significantly higher than last year and the average of the past decade.
The Western region reported the highest storage at over 97% due to receiving 149% of expected post-monsoon rain.
The high water levels are considered favorable for the current Rabi sowing season.
