India Adds Centers of Excellence for Mineral Research
India is boosting its research into important minerals by adding new expert centers.
These centers, like universities and research labs, will team up to study how to get and use these minerals.
This is part of a plan to help India become less reliant on other countries for these minerals and to help with things like clean energy and new technologies.
The government is also offering money to companies that recycle minerals from old electronics and batteries.
Two new institutes recognized as Centres of Excellence (CoE).
These are the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and the Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology (C-MET), Hyderabad.
The recognition is part of the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM).
CoEs will conduct research to advance the nation’s science and technology in critical minerals.
The government opened an application window for the Rs 1,500 crore Critical Mineral Recycling Incentive Scheme.
