Rupee Hits Record Low Amid Global Uncertainty
The Indian rupee hit a new record low of 91.64 against the US dollar on Wednesday.
This happened because of worries about global events and money leaving the country.
Despite this, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) says India's economy is still growing fast.
The RBI thinks India will keep being the fastest-growing major economy in the world.
They say this because even though there are problems around the world, India's own economy is strong.
The RBI also mentioned that India is doing trade talks with many countries to make things better.
They also talked about how the rupee has been going down in value and how money is flowing into the country's businesses.
The rupee hit a record low of 91.64 against the US dollar on Wednesday due to foreign fund outflows and global uncertainty.
The RBI remains optimistic about India's economic growth, projecting a 7.4% GDP growth for FY26 despite global risks.
Geopolitical tensions, including US intervention in Venezuela and conflicts in the Middle East, are contributing to the rupee's depreciation.
India is engaged in trade negotiations with 14 countries or blocs to strengthen its exports and mitigate external sector risks.
The rupee's depreciation is also attributed to foreign portfolio outflows and uncertainty surrounding the India-US trade deal.
