Students Urged to Pursue Research and Scientific Innovation

Professor C.K. Jayasankar gave students a talk about lasers.

He encouraged them to become interested in research and science.

He said dedication, hard work, creativity and imagination are important.

He explained what light is and how lasers work.

Lasers are different from ordinary light in several ways.

They can travel in a focused direction and have special properties.

He also explained how optical fibres help carry telephone and internet signals.

Optical fibres are also being used in medicine and sensing.

The event was held to remember Professor S.V.J. Lakshman.
