Arunachal Pradesh Launches 'SPICE' for Stronger Panchayats
The government in Arunachal Pradesh is giving more power and money to local village councils, called panchayats.
They are using a new plan called SPICE to help these councils make their own decisions and manage local development.
The government has given them control over 29 different areas, like planning and local projects.
The money given to these councils has gone up a lot in the last few years.
Also, a part of the state's tax money will go straight to the councils so they can work better.
The goal is for the councils to lead the way in making their communities better.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced a new 'SPICE' formula for stronger panchayats.
The state government devolved all 29 subjects listed in the 11th Schedule of the Constitution to panchayats.
Budget allocations for PRIs have risen by 308% in the past four years.
10% of the state’s tax revenue is earmarked exclusively for panchayati raj institutions.
The SPICE model aims to make panchayats drivers of social, economic, and infrastructural transformation.
