Over 12 Crore Rural Households Gain Tap Water Connections
The Indian government is working to bring tap water to every rural home.
A program called Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) started in 2019 to make this happen by 2024.
So far, over 12 crore more homes have gotten tap water.
The government is also thinking about keeping the program going until 2028 and spending more money on it to make sure it works well for a long time.
Around 12.44 crore additional rural households have received tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
The information was presented to the Rajya Sabha on Monday, July 23rd.
The JJM, a centrally-sponsored scheme, was launched in August 2019.
The mission aimed to provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) to all rural households by 2024.
