US Opted For Missiles Over Bunker Busters In Iran Strike
The U.S. decided not to use its most powerful bombs (bunker-busters) on Iran's Isfahan nuclear site because the site is too deep underground for the bombs to work effectively.
Instead, they used missiles.
The facility houses much of Iran's enriched uranium.
Although the structures were damaged, the attack may not have significantly affected Iran's ability to produce nuclear material, and facilities could remain untouched.
Officials disagree on the mission's impact, with some claiming it delayed the program a few months, while others suggest limited effectiveness.
U.S. military used Tomahawk missiles instead of bunker-busters at Isfahan.
Isfahan's depth made bunker-busters ineffective, according to officials.
Approx. 60% of Iran's enriched uranium is stored at the Isfahan site.
Initial assessments indicate that Iran's program was only set back by months.
Disagreements exist on damage, with some facilities potentially untouched.
