Khammam vendors protest over failed lottery allocation
In Khammam, vegetable vendors are very upset because the government did not hold a promised lottery to give them fair market stalls.
They say the government took money but did not give receipts or follow through.
A BJP leader visited to support the vendors and said the market has many problems, like too many shops and some people controlling everything unfairly.
The BJP wants the government to be fair and fix these issues, or there might be big protests.
Vegetable vendors in Khammam protested over the municipal corporation's failure to conduct a promised lottery for shop allocations.
BJP state treasurer Devaki Vasudeva Rao supported the vendors, criticizing the authorities for mismanagement and broken promises.
The market, originally for 40 vendors, now has over 230 shops with alleged unauthorized expansions and selective licensing.
Vendors claimed deposits of Rs 10,000 were collected without receipts or responses to their inquiries.
The BJP demands a transparent lottery process, action against unauthorized occupiers, and accountability for the collected deposits.
