Quarry Work Halted for Rare Rock Eagle Owl

Quarry Work Halted for Rare Rock Eagle Owl

In Telangana, India, work at a stone quarry was stopped for about a month to let a rare rock eagle owl take care of its five eggs.

Wildlife photographers and conservationists noticed the owl and its eggs and told the forest department.

The forest officials quickly asked the quarry owner to stop work until the baby birds can fly away safely.

The rock eagle owl is a special bird that lives in rocky areas and is not very common, even though it is not endangered.

The eggs are expected to hatch in about 15 days, and the baby birds will need about 20-25 days of care before they can fly.

The quarry owner agreed to stop work to help protect the owl and its eggs.
