Telangana Aims to Be India's Life Sciences Innovation Capital
Telangana is a state in India where lots of medicines are made.
It is already famous for making medicines and vaccines for the whole world.
Now, the people in charge there want to do more than just make medicines.
They want to be the best at inventing new medicines too.
They have a big plan to bring in 25 billion dollars and create more than five lakh new jobs.
That is a lot of money and a lot of jobs!
They want to make special new treatments, like medicines made from living cells.
The leaders say India also needs to make more of the ingredients used in medicines at home.
A big medicine show called CPHI & PMEC India is coming in November.
It will happen in Delhi and nearby Greater Noida.
Telangana officials say the state, already a pharma manufacturing and vaccine hub, now seeks to become India's life sciences innovation capital.
The Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026-2030 targets USD 25 billion in investments and over five lakh jobs in five years.
Focus areas include biologics, biosimilars, cell and gene therapies where biology, chemistry, and technology converge.
Industry experts stress the need for more R&D investment, API backward integration, and reducing dependence on imported key starting materials.
CPHI & PMEC India 2026 is scheduled for November in Delhi-NCR, with CPHI India at IICC Yashobhoomi, Dwarka (Nov 23-25) and PMEC India at IEML, Greater Noida (Nov 24-26).
