Fake Railway ID Detected During Ticket Check at Mumbai's CSMT

Railway staff were checking tickets at a busy station in Mumbai.

They noticed that a passenger's railway ID card looked suspicious.

The passenger said he worked as a junior engineer at the station.

Railway officials said he later admitted that he had made the card himself so he would not have to pay the fare.

Staff handed him over to the railway police, who will take further action.

Separately, Central Railway said it collected penalties in many cases of people travelling without tickets.

It said those penalties totalled ₹159.34 crore from April through September 2026.

The report does not specify the year of the incident on October 8.
