Nagpur Municipal Corp. to Pay More for Tax Invoice Delivery
The Nagpur city government is working with India Post to deliver property tax bills.
This year, they'll pay India Post more money per bill than last year.
About half of the bills will be delivered by India Post, and the rest by city staff.
Last year, many bills couldn't be delivered because of wrong addresses.
The city is trying to make sure more people pay their taxes on time.
People can also pay their taxes online.
The city wants to collect more taxes, aiming for Rs 400 crore in the coming years.
The increase in cost for delivering the bills is because India Post increased their charges.
NMC is partnering with India Post to deliver property tax invoices.
India Post will deliver 3.2 lakh invoices, with the rest distributed by NMC staff.
India Post increased its per-article delivery charge from Rs 31.70 to Rs 35.77.
Last year, over 33% of invoices delivered by India Post were returned undelivered.
NMC aims to collect Rs 400 crore in property taxes by 2025-26.
