Trump Announces Tariffs on Chips, Apple to Boost U.S. Investment
Former President Trump announced a plan to add a 100% tax, or tariff, on computer chips coming from other countries.
However, if companies make these chips in the United States, they won't have to pay the tax.
Apple also said it will invest more money in the U.S. The goal is to encourage companies to build chip factories in America and bring manufacturing back home.
This has led to some countries being worried, especially those who sell chips to the U.S.
Trump announced a 100% tariff on imported semiconductors.
U.S.-made chips, or those made by companies investing domestically, are exempt.
Apple committed to invest an additional $100 billion in the U.S.
The policy aims to encourage domestic chip manufacturing and investment.
The plan has raised concerns from countries reliant on chip exports to the U.S.
