U.S. Strikes Iran After Jordan Missile Attack and Escalation
The United States and Saudi Arabia attacked many Iranian military sites after Iran fired missiles at a U.S. base in Jordan.
They hit places where Iran keeps its missiles and drones.
The U.S. also struck Iranian-backed groups in Iraq, killing some fighters.
The fighting spread to Egypt, where gas ships were hit, and worried people about oil supplies.
Oil prices jumped because of the danger to the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil.
President Trump said the U.S. would hit Iran very hard, but talks to stop the war are still trying to happen.
U.S. and Saudi Arabia launched a heavy wave of strikes on Iranian targets in Iraq and the Middle East after Iran fired missiles at a U.S. base in Jordan.
The strikes hit dozens of Revolutionary Guard Corps sites, including command centers, missile and drone facilities, and coastal defense sites.
The U.S. also targeted Iranian-backed militias in Iraq, killing at least 20 fighters and six advisers, while Saudi Arabia accused Iraqi militias of drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities.
The escalation triggered attacks on natural gas vessels in Egypt’s port of Damietta and raised concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, causing Brent crude to jump over 7%.
U.S. President Donald Trump vowed to hit Iran "very hard" and called the retaliation a "powerful response," while diplomatic talks remain stalled.
