Thane Youth Reclaim the Night in Silent Walk Against Violence
Young people in Thane held a quiet night-time march called “Walk for HER.”
They wore white clothes and walked around Upvan Lake.
They wanted to show support for women who have experienced sexual violence.
They also protested against blaming women for crimes committed against them.
The marchers said women should be free to go outside without being judged or restricted.
They asked government authorities to take strong action against offenders.
They also said boys and men should learn to respect women.
The organisers said this was only the beginning of their campaign.
Dozens of young people dressed in white joined the “Walk for HER” at Thane’s Upvan Lake.
The silent demonstration sought safety, dignity and freedom for women and solidarity with sexual-violence victims.
Organiser Ritu Bhoite collaborated with the Why Loiter Campaign for the event.
Participants challenged victim-blaming, moral policing and judgments about women’s clothing, mobility and presence outdoors.
The marchers called for strict action against offenders and greater education and sensitisation among boys and men.
