Three Held in Alleged Forged FMGE Certificate Network

Foreign-trained doctors in India must pass a test called the FMGE before they can seek permission to practise.

The Maharashtra Medical Council noticed cases where people who had not passed the test still had medical registration certificates.

Maharashtra Cyber began investigating and says it has apprehended three people.

Investigators suspect the group helped create fake test results and other documents.

They believe the documents may have been made for around 15 to 20 applicants in return for money.

Police are checking electronic devices, financial records and communications.

They have not yet established everyone's role or whether more people were involved.

The investigation is ongoing.
