Android 16 Desktop Mode on Pixel Phones
Android 16 is a new version of the Android operating system that allows certain Pixel phones, like the Pixel 8, to act like a desktop computer.
When you connect your Pixel phone to a monitor using a USB-C cable, it can show a special desktop-style screen with a taskbar, system tray, and app launcher.
You can open apps in windows that you can resize and move around, just like on a computer.
You can also use a mouse and keyboard to control your phone.
This feature is turned on through the Developer options on your phone.
Your phone's screen can still be used for other things while the main work happens on the monitor.
Android 16 introduces a desktop mode for compatible Pixel smartphones.
The mode transforms the phone into a desktop with a taskbar, system tray, and app launcher.
Apps open in resizable windows, allowing for multitasking with a mouse and keyboard.
The feature is enabled through Developer options on the Pixel smartphone.
The phone's screen can remain active as a second control surface while the main work happens on the monitor.
