Ken Griffin Pledges Record $3 Billion to Carnegie Mellon

Ken Griffin, the head of Citadel, promised Carnegie Mellon University $3 billion.

Some of the money will help the university’s existing campus in Pittsburgh.

The rest will help build a new campus in Miami.

The Miami campus will study big problems such as health, security, climate, and manufacturing.

It will combine science, technology, arts, humanities, and design.

More than 3,500 students are expected to attend when it is finished.

The campus is also expected to have nearly 300 faculty members and more than 600 staff members.

Construction could begin in 2027, and students could arrive in 2028 if regulators approve the plans.
