India's First 320 kmph Bullet Train Electrification Network
India is building its first high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, which will allow trains to travel at speeds up to 320 kmph.
This project includes constructing viaducts, stations, and tunnels, but a crucial part is the electrification system that powers the trains.
The electrification network uses a special technology called a 2×25 kV Overhead Traction System, which is new to India.
This system includes substations that supply power to the trains and ensure they can operate safely and reliably.
The project also focuses on manufacturing components domestically to reduce reliance on imports and includes safety measures like earthquake detection systems.
The electrification network is a critical part of the project, even though it is not as visible as the tracks and stations.
India's first high-speed rail corridor, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train, is being equipped with a 2×25 kV Overhead Traction System.
The electrification network includes 14 Traction Substations and 16 Distribution Substations to supply power to the trains and operational infrastructure.
Over 22,000 steel masts and 25,700 cantilever assemblies will support the overhead wires for the electrification system.
The project aims to manufacture components domestically to reduce import dependence and create manufacturing capabilities for future high-speed rail corridors.
Safety measures include Early Earthquake Detection Seismometers installed at traction substations and switching posts.
