Government to Monitor Prices of Consumer Goods After GST Cuts
The government is watching the prices of many everyday items like butter and soap.
They want to make sure that when taxes (GST) go down, the prices in stores also go down.
The government cut taxes on many products, including car parts, so they are checking if companies are lowering prices.
This should help people save money, especially during the festive season.
CBIC will monitor prices of 54 consumer goods for six months.
Monitoring aims to ensure GST rate cuts benefit consumers.
New GST rates took effect on September 22, 2025.
Nearly 400 goods and services saw revised GST rates.
Auto parts tax reduced from 28% to 18%.
